Chicago Bulls 92, San Antonio Spurs 85
The Bulls took full advantage of the Spurs last night who were playing the second of back to back nights. The Bulls outrebounded the Spurs 52-44 last night and they outscored them 27-18 in the third quarter which set the tone for the rest of the game. Luol Deng led the way for the Bulls in this game with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Kirk Hinrich was outstanding off the bench for the Bulls last night with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots in 30 minutes. Tyrus Thomas was effective also in his 26 minutes on the floor as he finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Derrick Rose only made 5 of 12 shots from the floor but he still finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The Bulls were impressive last night as they start the season 1-0.

Salmons was the one who had the bad shooting night, going 3 for 15. Rose went 5 for 12 and had 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal, so I thought it was a great season opener for Rose who has been battling an ankle injury and missing a lot of practice. Taj Gibson didn’t shoot well in his NBA debut (1 for 6) but in only 16 minutes he got 6 rebounds, including 3 offensive, so that was good to see. It was also nice to see a healthy Luol Deng for once, and if he can play like the way he did in the 06′-07′ season the Bulls will be in great shape. Deng played in every game that year and averaged 18.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals.
I stand corrected. Salmons name was right above Rose’s in the boxscore. If Luol Deng can stay healthy that will make the Bulls a very good basketball team.
