Chris Duhon needs to play better or he shouldn’t play at all

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Monday 15 January 2007 at 8:19 pm

Chris Duhon has lost his starting job to Ben Gordon because he’s been a huge disappointment this season. He has played in 37 games and has averaged 26.2 minutes, 6.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season and that’s just not good enough for a starting NBA point guard. Part of his problem has been that he’s been shooting very poorly this year. He’s only hit 39.1% of his shots from the floor and that’s not acceptable if he wants to get playing time. He’s also only hit 40 of 125 3-point attempts which is only good for 32%, so maybe he shouldn’t take that many of those kind of shots.

Bulls starting to play up to their ability

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 10:46 pm

It seemed as if the Bulls were coasting early in the season, but they’re focused now. The Bulls are in third place in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference with a 20-15 record which has them 2 games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bulls have played pretty good defense this season as they allow 95.4 points per game, but the thing they do real well is force turnovers. The Bulls force 18.2 turnovers per game which is #2 in the NBA. Ben Gordon is leading the Bulls in scoring, off the bench, with 20.7 points per game. Luol Deng is a rising force on the Bulls as he’s averaging 18.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Andres Nocioni has been great since the Bulls inserted him in the starting lineup as he is averaging 15.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Kirk Hinrich has been solid with 14.2 points and 5.9 assists per contest. Ben Wallace has been producing as advertised with 6.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. The Bulls are a threat to win the Eastern Conference this season.

The Bulls only hit 36.6% of their shots from the floor and they were outscored 54-37 in the second half and that was too much for the Bulls to overcome. Ben Gordon led the way off the bench with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Luol Deng backed Gordon up with a solid game finishing with 20 points and 5 rebounds.

Luol Deng is taking his game to a new level as of late. In his last 7 games Deng has averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Deng is also shooting a remarkable 57.4% from the floor and is emerging as the #1 option on offense for the Bulls.

The Bulls really played great on defense last night as they held the Pistons to 34.8% shooting from the floor. Luol Deng continued his great play of late with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Ben Gordon added 23 points, 4 assists and 3 steals off the bench. Andres Nocioni added 21 points and 6 rebounds. Ben Wallace had an inspired night against his old team. Wallace scored 12 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, stole the ball 3 times and blocked 6 shots.

The Bulls fall to the Nets 91-86 in New Jersey

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 6 January 2007 at 2:32 pm

The Bulls wasted a good defensive effort as they held the Nets to 36.5% shooting from the floor. Part of the problem last night was that the Nets outrebounded the Bulls 51-41, and the Bulls never really got anything going on offense. Luol Deng had another real solid game with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Andres Nocioni also had a decent game with 19 points and 6 rebounds.

The Bulls fell to 19-14 on the season with this loss. To view the boxscore, click on this link. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270105017
