The Bulls are hitting their stride

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 29 January 2007 at 9:46 pm

The Bulls are starting to move up in the Eastern Conference as they are currently the #3 seed with a 26-19 record and they’re only 1 game behind the Washington Wizards for the top seed. The Bulls are 26-19 and only 1/2 a game behind the Pistons in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. The Bulls are a jump shooting team for the most part so their offensive production is a little up and down. Ben Gordon has emerged as the leader on the offense as he’s averaging 21.6 points per game. He wants the ball in his hands at crunch time.  Luol Deng has been fantastic this season and he really has been a great finisher on the break. He’s averaging 17.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season and the Bulls need him to keep this pace up in the 2nd half. Andres Nocioni keeps shifting from the bench to starting, but his minutes have been consistent. He’s played very well at power forward as he’s averaging 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season. Kirk Hinrich has been a solid contributor as he’s averaging 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. The Bulls need him to keep that up in the second half. Ben Wallace has been the enforcer for the defense that the Bulls needed. He’s averaging 6.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. The Bulls do need more from the bench as P.J. Brown, Chris Duhon, Malik Allen and Mike Sweetney to pick up their level of play in the second half.

P.J. Brown has been disappointing for the Bulls

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 1:49 pm

The Bulls brought in P.J. Brown to start at power forward, but he couldn’t hold onto the job. He suddenly is playing like a man his age should…..which isn’t good. In his last 6 games he’s averaged 22.0 minutes, 4.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists. Those numbers will not get him his starting job back.

Ben Gordon playing well

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 1:45 pm

Ben Gordon has really stepped up for the Bulls. They put him in the starting lineup and he’s been their best scorer since they’ve done it. In his last 7 games, Gordon has averaged 23.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The only problem that Gordon has is that he’s a tad small to be a real effective defender, but as long as he keeps shooting well and scoring points it won’t matter much to the Bulls.

Horrible offensive play causes Bulls to lose 95-85 to the Jazz in Chicago

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 21 January 2007 at 1:35 pm

The Bulls only shot 38.2% from the floor as a team and that’s the main reason they lost last night. Ben Gordon didn’t shoot well (7 of 20) but he wound up with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Kirk Hinrich also didn’t shoot well (6 of 15) and wound up with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Bulls outscored the Bucks 32-17 in the 4th quarter and that was just too much for the Bucks to overcome. The Bulls played great defense all night long as they held the Bucks to 38.5% shooting from the floor. Andres Nocioni led the way for the Bulls with 21 points and 4 rebounds. Ben Gordon also had a solid game with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Luol Deng was also very active with 19 points and 9 rebounds.
