Bulls thrashed by Cavs 113-94

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 10 November 2006 at 1:34 am

The Bulls were thrashed by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs out-scored the Bulls 30-18 in the first quarter and never looked back. Kirk Hinrich led the way for the Bulls with 20 points & 11 assists. Andres Nocioni came off of the bench to score 15 points. Luol Deng (11 points) and P.J. Brown (11 points) each helped out a little bit on offense.

The Bulls got blasted on the boards 47-30 by the Cavs. The Bulls fell to 2-3 this season.

Centers

The Bulls made an outstanding move in signing Ben Wallace to start at center. The Bulls have plenty of scores on the team, so Wallace won’t hurt them offensively. His offensive game is limited to dunks and putbacks, as he has only averaged 6.6 points per game over his career. Wallace also is a horrid free-throw shooter as he has only hit 41.8% of his attempts and is sometimes replaced late in games. But Wallace is an awesome rebounder and is the best defensive basketball player in the NBA! Wallace has averaged 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 blocks per game over his career. Wallace is a difference-maker that will help the Bulls make a deep run in the NBA playoffs.

Martynas Andriuskevicius was acquired from the Cavs in a minor trade in the off-season. He has only played in 6 games and has not scored a point in the NBA yet. He is a ways off from helping the Bulls.

Look for PJ Brown & Michael Sweetney to play center when Wallace needs a breather.

Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 5:46 pm

Luol Deng is a very athletic player that is good in the transition game. Deng is a good shooter inside the 3-point line and takes high % shots. Deng has averaged 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in his first two seasons in the NBA. Because he is the third option on offense, he probably won’t average big numbers but he will be a solid contributor for the Bulls.

Andres Nocioni will be the back-up at both small & power forward for the Bulls. Nocioni is an aggressive player that goes all out whenever he’s on the court. The team feeds off of Nocioni’s energy when he’s on the court. He will play starters minutes even though he comes off of the bench. Andres has three-point range (35.2% career) but he also can bang on the boards when needed. Nocioni has averaged 10.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game over his career. His numbers will be far better than his career norms this season.

Thabo Sefolosha was acquired in a trade on draft day. The rookie can also play shooting guard if needed. Sefolosha handles the very well and has great athleticism. He should fit in well on this roster.

Viktor Khryapa was acquired in a trade with the Portland Trailblazers. Khryapa is a good 3-point shooter (34.1% career) and he hustles all the time. Viktor has averaged 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game over his career.

Bulls gore Bucks 110-85

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 4:00 pm

The Bulls absolutely thrashed the Bucks from the opening tip to the final second of the game! Ben Gordon had a fantastic game with 37 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists! Luol Deng had a big game with 17 points & 9 assists. PJ Brown showed that he has a little gas left in the tank with 13 points & 11 rebounds. Ben Wallace filled out the boxscore with 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 5 blocked shots! Andres Nocioni provided offense off of the bench with 17 points.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 2:11 pm

The Bulls traded for veteran PJ Brown to add toughness and rebounding to the Bulls. Brown is not a scorer as he has only averaged 9.4 points per game over his career. Brown’s value lies in his defense and rebounding. PJ has averaged 8.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Brown won’t have to play big minutes for the Bulls, just quality minutes.

The Bulls drafted LaMarcus Aldridge and then traded him to the Blazers for Tyrus Thomas and another player. Thomas is a future star that is very athletic for a power forward. He could have trouble getting alot of playing time due to the depth that the Bulls have at the forward position.

Mike Sweetney should be a much better player than he is. Sweetney has averaged 7.4 points & 5.0 rebounds per game despite only playing 17.5 minutes per game. He would get to play more if he showed a little more dedication to his job.

Malik Allen is another decent back-up forward, but he’s buried on the depth chart. Allen only has played 19.0 minutes per game, but has averaged 6.5 points & 3.6 rebounds per game over his career.

Bulls lose in final seconds 89-88 to Kings

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 4:00 am

Luol Deng played a great game, scoring 29 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists, blocked 2 shots and stole the ball twice. Ben Wallace scored 9 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, stole the ball 3 times and blocked 2 shots. Kirk Hinrish (15 points), Andres Nocioni (14 points) and Chris Duhon (10 points) all chipped in on offense.’

The Bulls just couldn’t stop guard Kevin Martin who scored 30 points and hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds.

Bulls look lethargic in 109-94 loss to Magic

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 3 November 2006 at 12:23 pm

The Bulls almost looked like they didn’t realize they had a game after beating the World Champs the night before. The Magic shot 59.3% from the floor and out-rebounded the Bulls 36-27! Ben Gordon came to play for the Bulls, hitting 11 of 21 shots for 24 points. Kirk Hinrich scored 14 points and Luol Deng added 12 points. The only real bright spot of this game was first-round pick Thabo Sefolosha who displayed alot of skills. Thabo scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and stole the ball twice in 21 minutes on the floor.

If the Bulls want to be contenders, they need to focus on every night’s game and not take any off.

Bulls destroy defending champs 108-66!

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 1 November 2006 at 1:23 am

The Heat got their championship rings before the game and then called it a night before tipoff as the Bulls totally destroyed them. The Bulls point guards abused Gary Payton tonight. Kirk Hinrich scored 26 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 3 assists and stole the ball twice. Chris Duhon added 20 points and shot the ball very well.Â

The Bulls also crushed the mighty Heat on the boards. Andres Nocioni had 9 points and 11 rebounds. New addition Ben Wallace had 5 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bulls sent the Heat and the NBA a message…..look out!
